Sweet sweet sounds of Beirut

Beirut – Postcards from Italy

No matter how long ago this was first released, I just can’t seem to put my finger on it, this Beirut video makes me smile every time. Perhaps it is the soft footage of beach side holidays, childhood friendships, the simple moments in time that make it all so innocent- what happiness of eating a watermelon as a kid, jumping into the deep end of the backyard pool, the care of a mother, kisses of grandparents. The video clip was directed by the all talented Alma Har’el.

Not only visually exciting but Beirut’s ensemble of folk, indie-rock tunes sound true to the ears that hear it. I am still smiling.

Radiohead like to surprise

We’ve been waiting four years for this! Radiohead released its eighth album, The King of Limbs, as a digital download on Saturday morning- and I (along with so many other fans) couldn’t have been happier.

Monday Morning Benders

The Morning Benders – apart from being my new favourite band – got a whole bunch of friends and musicians together to play their beautiful song ‘Excuses’. What results is a beautiful performance that makes you a little fuzzy inside. Well, it made me fuzzy… 🙂
