Blissful Byron Bay

Jeremy and I we’re invited to spend a night at The Byron at Byron and upon entering the sanctuary like grounds found ourselves on the verge of a stillness, all of our crazy week just a faded distant memory. With the sound of the ocean splashing off the walls of our tropical rainforest retreat, the abundant birds chirping stories to each other and the smell of fresh cut lilies filling the air – we had found a bayside nirvana.

The Byron at Byron is situated a short bicycle ride out of the main village of Byron Bay and is skirted by the beautiful and long stretches of Tallows beach. Of all the places and spaces in Byron it’s Tallows that has my heart, this dog friendly beach stretches it’s pure white sands tentacles long up the coast and wraps itself along up to the lighthouse at the eastern most point of Australia. With excited and playful barks tempering the air, families bonding over the surf dumping them on the shore and the odd cyclists gliding by on the hard sand – these scenes are best kind of beach to me.

Situated on 48 hectares the resort features 90 bungalows sprawled amongst 3 uniquely different ecosystems. A wetland, comprising of a lake and river inlets filled with pops of bright blue water lilies, a dappled light filled forest of pine trees and a lush tropical rainforest all make for a perfect space in which to stroll hand in hand experiencing the wonder and changing landscapes melting together with your significant other.

The resort has taken the ecosystems and continued the elements through the décor of the rooms and common areas’. Staying in any of the bungalows has you in amidst an ecosystem with secluded views onto the picturesque surrounds.

As one would expect from a spa resort, it is fully equipped with every spa facility imaginable and we can highly recommend indulging in a relaxing treatment and finishing with a dip in the spa bath. Topped with with a superb meal at the restaurant and you’ve just had the perfect Byron day.

The Byron at Byron is best reached by flying to Ballina then transferring straight to the resort. They offer hire bikes to get you into the centre of town. Thank you to the Byron at Byron for hosting us & giving us a much needed reprieve from the bustle of our week.

Qantas' Summer Sounds…

After taking more than 55 flights so far this year, we’ve become pretty savvy travelers and one of our key absolute must-haves on any flight is our headphones and of course music. But of course, after about flight 38 you start to get maybe just a little bored with your iPod’s selections.

Luckily, on a good airline you have lots of choice. Personally, I prefer a playlist rather than listening to an album and from our experience this year, Qantas has some of the best entertainment available. One particular playlist that popped up on my last few flights really stood out this month. After a little research I found that the Q Radio selection each month was something that some lucky soul (best job in the world) at Qantas put together each month.

I tweeted Qantas to find the playlist and, although it wasn’t readily available anywhere for me to get a list of the songs, the fantastic people in their social media team did a little investigative work and emailed me a few days later to tell me they’d found it, attached a text document and well wishes and voilà I had my playlist.

Now, it’s no secret that we’re big fans of Spotify at WAH, and thus our fave Qantas playlist was an instant hit at HQ. Now, we’re so happy to share it with you guys, perfect for a summer Sunday afternoon.

The Perfect Pouch.

EUPHORIA CAMPAIGN

WAH_Euphoria01

We jetted off to the topical location of New Caledonia, where the rich Melonesian culture meets French Provincial sophistication, to shoot our latest campaign Euphoria. With bold prints, pops of colour and the continuance of our athletic aesthetic, this collection celebrates the WAH girl as fun, healthy, happy and active.

Every time we are on location, we can’t quite believe the lives that we live and how lucky we are. Sure being on location and shooting a campaign is mega hard work, but with surrounds this beautiful no one was complaining. Tropical palms, turquoise blue water, coconuts, sunshine and some new playful puppy friends created what was a memorable shoot.

A Handsome Editorial

Within the majestic landscape of Cambodia, photographer Hannah Roche set out on a fisherman’s boat with two fresh faces to make magic. Nearly capsizing a few times, interacting with the locals and taking in the beautiful surrounds, Hannah and her handsome babes (who had never modelled before..can you believe it!?) represented what it is to be a WAH girl; fit, fun, travel inspired and embracing of culture.

SUMMER SNACKS

3c6029b6fccab75600801e6b7ed7bb9a

Summer is coming and that means delicious fruits and vegetables that may not have been available in winter are certainly in season! Quite often we can get caught up in the silly season and over indulge ourselves in chocolate and other decadent sweets. Being conscious of what you are eating and ensuring you not only take care of yourself but feed your body nutritious meals and snacks, is extremely important to maintain that summer bod and strong immunity. Being healthy does not mean you have to deprive yourself of delicious treats. Here are 3 healthy snacks to include within your day, that will help curb the bad cravings and ultimately feed your soul and nourish your body.

1. Green Guns Bowl

THE GOOD STUFF: Blending coconut water, fresh coconut pulp, kiwi and chia together to make your breakfast or snack base is wholesome and filling. Add fresh kiwi, blue berries (or any on hand) and fresh coconut shavings on top. I also like to add in almonds for crunch or some muesli and banana if I have a big day ahead.

2.  Weekday Water Infusions

photo 3

THE GOOD STUFF: Whether you have a glass bottle or a BPA free water bottle, infuse your water with berries, lemon, lime and cucumber for a kick to your day. You will maintain hydration whilst consuming the vitamins and minerals important to heal and protect your immune system. The lime and cucumber is fantastic for skin helping to revitalise and brighten. When you finish the water simply snack on the ingredients. YUM!

3. Sweet & Savoury Snack Bites

photo 2

THE GOOD STUFF: Whether you are feeling hungry for savoury delights or sweet pick me ups, using a  rice cracker instead of bread will allow you to enjoy your chosen ingredients more, without that bad carb bloated feeling. For sweet, make yogurt or light ricotta as your base and just add fruit. For savoury, add avocado or light Feta cheese for some flavour with your toppings. These snack bites are great for lunch or simply a quick afternoon pick me up.

So there you have it. Three Summer snacks you can create and vary to your own taste buds, that will help curb your sugary cravings and maintain your summer bod. Utilise the fruits and vegetables in season, summer only comes around once a year so make the most of it.

SUMMER FITNESS AERIAL YOGA

20110117-aerialyoga

Now I am usually not one for yoga, I am more of a Pilates core training kinda gal, but recently a friend of mine started doing Aerial Yoga (anti Gravity) and she swears by it. So I thought, why not try it out! Incase you are’t too sure about it, or perhaps the name itself is enough to run for the hills, Aerial Yoga sees you hanging from the ceiling, on a hammock like apparatus. Yes, I believe I now have your attention.

Designed to let your body hang freely, Aerial Yoga aims to decompress your spine and vertebrae, as well as promote flexibility and strength. Now any ideas I may have had about this type of yoga, (think Monkey bar type of fun) were thrown out the window and it turns out, Aerial Yoga not so easy, but incredibly challenging, fun and addictive. It has fast become my favourite type of yoga (believe me I’ve done them all) and my go to summer fitness regime.

111

Aerial Yoga pushes you mentally and physically, using your own body weight in every pose. When you are in the midst of Aerial Yoga you are concentrating so very much and are acutely aware of every inch of your body, that the outside world simply falls away. You focus on you and you alone, because if you don’t you may end up smack bang on the floor. It may have been the only hour in my day, where I solely focused on myself and what my body was capable of. What I really enjoyed most about my experience, was how surprised I was with what my body could do. I have done yoga before, but the lightness of my body allowed me to move in ways I never have in a standard class. Combined with the incredible energy, this was certainly what made it interesting and fun.

If you are like me and don’t consider yourself a “yoga girl” try Aerial Yoga for some energy lifting and challenging fun.

Now you know my new summer fitness regime…tell us, what will you be trying this summer?
