TIALS FW13 : TIGER BLOOD from THIS IS A LOVE SONG
I first stumbled upon this label when I walked into their concept store in Seminyak, Bali. Initially the aesthetics of the store itself captured my attention with its rustic yet modern, edgy interior. Casting my eyes to each item of clothing further solidified my intital impression of the label. Fuelled by the necessity of music, love and good times, the labels designs reflect the value of creativity, individuality and eccentricity. Tiring of the superflous overflow of unoriginal designs, TIALS is a breath of fresh air and echoes the need for fashion to reflect individuality not conformity.
With model/actress/all encompassing creative being Fa Empel aka FA’velapunk, as the current face of the label, the latest video featuring the FW13 collection Tiger Blood is very cool. The collection is street yet modern with its androgynous undertones. It speaks of creativity and originality, not confining itself to the masculine or the feminine. Featuring monochrome looks, cut out crops, structured designs and staple tees, the collection is playful, fun and daring all the same. It is rare for a collection to have so many different elements and succeed in being original. This Is A Love Song certainly does.
TIALS will continue to develop a strong almost cult like following of individuals who crave inspiration and vision.
You can keep up to date with everything TIALS on their website, as well as follow the label on instagram @thisisalovesong, twitter and FB.

The stunning whimsical and talented Australian singer Coby Grant, has me captivated. After touring around Europe, supporting acts like Josh Groban and establishing a reputation as a stunning folk, indie singer/songwriter, she is finally home and has released her new song ‘I Wanna Be The One’, which is available for download on iTunes. She has a plethora of new songs, of which ‘Never Let Me Go’ (above) is one. Have a listen Handsome Wanderers as I am sure you will love it just as much as I do.
You can view and follow Coby’s Youtube Channel here. Make sure you follow her updates on Facebook and Twitter via @cobygrant.

There is nothing like escaping to a tropical destination for a bit of rest and relaxation. Combine this with a unique, rewarding and charitable experience and I’d say I have found my perfect holiday.
Usually, if I stay any longer than 3 weeks in a destination I like to find an experience that will give back to the local community or environment. Last year when I took a couple of months off in Bali I found myself volunteering at a local school in Denpasar teaching English. I guess it runs in the family, as my father did the same thing in Laos and Cambodia; teaching and helping to rebuild a rural school. You get the enjoyment of being in a tropical and culturally exotic location and at the same time, experience the rewarding nature of giving.
We came across some amazing photographs shot by Thomas Prior of Mexico’s infamous National Pyrotechnics Festival – which celebrates the country’s tradtion and production of fireworks. How could we not share these with you!?
Lots more info can be found here, of course.
So I have been on the hunt for a quality leather bag that will get me through the everyday trials and tribulations. There is always a lot to consider when choosing bag. I mean a woman’s bag holds a lot of valuable and useful items. Any women would agree. So it must be big enough to fit everything, but not too big that my stuff ends up getting lost and I spend 10 minutes searching for it. Believe me I have made that mistake more than a few times. It must have compartments to fit my makeup, phone and little bits and pieces, as well as hold larger items like my iPad, wallet, perfume, brush…the list is endless.
With the winter blues setting in well and truly in Australia, I thought I would bring a little pick me up to inspire all you handsome wanderers. Currently I am gladly seeing a lot of pale looks and metallic hues that provide a sweet alternative to the saturation of layered black winter looks. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like all classic black. A bit of leather, a bit of fur, a structured overcoat etc, but when you look like you are going to a funeral, and yes that funeral is for summer, it is probably time to brighten up your wardrobe. Obviously bright colours are spring orientated (not that bright colours are bad either) so pale looks every now and again, of white, grey and metallics won’t be huge shift in your winter wardrobe.
So the other week I took myself off to Sydney for Shop Til You Drops Fashion Weekend at Royal Hall of Industries. The event is always fun, as not only do some pretty well known designers show their collections on the runway, but you are able to purchase coveted looks from a range of stalls in the hall itself. Not to mention you could have your nails, make-up and hair done just to get a bit of pampering. The main stage also saw key speakers talk about upcoming designs and looks for the coming season, as well as giving advice to the audience on how to wear certain items well. Add a wine bar and the event was definitely buzzing.
To me jewellery acts as the final touch on what is already a beautiful canvas. Jewellery can make or break an outfit, it can add a uniqueness, edge and elegance. So choosing jewellery to purchase should always be a careful decision. Of course you can buy costume type jewellery until the cows come home, but those key solid classic items that you will never want to give up, should be considered carefully.
My obsession with leather (nothing kinky) has been going on for a few years now. I am always investing in new leather items including boots, bags, jackets, vests and pants to expand my already over flowing wardrobe. Having a skinny leather pant custom made for me was probably one of the smartest fashion decisions I have made. They keep me warm in winter, as well as adding that edgy look to what could otherwise be a plain outfit. Whether it’s a plain boyfriend tee, crisp white shirt or this seasons peplum style top, a pair of leather pants will definitely match with anything. So this is the time ladies, to invest in a good pair of leather pants. You will not regret it.
My favourites out at the moment come from One Teaspoon, Winston Wolfe and Bassike.
