MBFWA saw many talented designers hit the runway with their Spring/Summer collections. Camilla Franks was one of them and was certainly a favourite of mine. The collection ‘Pachamama’ was entrancing, whimsical and flirty. The show was classic Camilla; Boho chic, gypsy wanderer, desert nomad. From its ornate, gypsy like setting boasting a fire pit and desert cacti, to the intricate detail on the designs, the runway was certainly original.

Glamour Darling, Glamour!
Old Hollywood.
Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean, Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn all iconic names that encompass all that is Old Hollywood. The glitz the glamour, the scandal, the opulence, a time of ground breaking film, music and television. Where Los Angeles was un officially ruled by Gangsters and Mafia alike, personalities such as Mickey Cohen still leave a memorable legacy of violence, booze, jazz and lavish partying. One thing that is certain, is that this era is certainly fascinating.
Imagine if you got to be a part of this historical magnificence. Experience the extravagance that is Vintage Hollywood with a modern twist? Well, we have found the perfect place to do so. We are in with love the Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills. There is just something about the rich history, juxtaposed with its modern elements that have us ever so intrigued.
Originally, the hotel was not so coveted or the place to be, but in recent years its retro-chic revival from the brilliant architect Koning Eizenberg, has provided the hotel on a fresh new look and the ability to impress every single guest that experiences its charm.
Coachella Love
It is that time of year again, where we all look to the infamous Coachella Music Festival to plan our very own festival look for the coming summer. Great tunes, good company, tent chilling and summer vibes are what Coachella is known for the most, but more recently its style has become iconic. When festival season comes around, it seems we all have a bit of indie rock love in us.
Samantha Wills – The Bowerbird Collective
As usual the delightful and talented Samantha Wills has created a lavish and beautiful collection of jewels. Her new line Hunter and Gatherer: The Bowerbird Collective is all about the bohemian love.
Inspired by an imaginative bohemian, luxe sanctuary like apartment, the collections use of simple understated pieces is contrasted with statement eye catching necklaces, earrings and bracelets, providing a perfect balance of the wild child and down to earth nature.
Colour Me Vivid
One of my favourite things to do when I am out shopping is get amongst the lippy shade isles. I always go in with visions in my head of how a colour will look on me, based on what I have seen on-line, in a magazine or on a celebrity. That is half the fun. Lets face it, we all want perfect pouty lips. There is just something about a lipstick shade that adds edge to an everyday outfit.
Nailed it.
Ever since I was young I have always taken pride in how my nails looked. They were always perfectly manicured, shaped and painted just the way I wanted them. Even at school (where clearly nail polish was not allowed) I always had to break the boundaries and wear bright beautiful colours. I have my mother to thank for this. We share a mutual love of nail polish and decorations, and may have more nail polish combined then anyone we know.
Our mutual love has recently extended to quirky nail art. Aztec, floral, metallic and striped prints have all caught my eye recently. Depending on how adventurous and daring mum and I feel, we will either go a full set of prints, or choose one or two nails to be different. My favourites are anything with an unusual graphic print, as I like my nails to be individual just like my style. How they fit so much detail into one tiny space I will never know. Pure genius.
Generally when I find a nail product that will last me at least 7 days, looks amazing and protects my nail making it stronger, I am a very happy and content woman. Which is why I am super excited to see our exciting new collaboration with Nail Rock fresh on the runway, at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Their designs are rad and provide everything I am looking for in a nail product. Whilst we cannot give away what we have in stall for you on the runway, I can say this; it will be very Handsome.
Remember, style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. Be individual and let your choices reflect who you are as an individual. Nail it, every time.

Good Hair Days
Since the seasons are changing, like any girl, my hair styles will need to change and adapt to suit this. So I have decided to seek hair inspiration. I have had every hair style under the sun, really short and choppy, long and luscious, medium and blunt, ombre, dye dip, blonde, brown, blonde again, boho style, concave…you name it I have had it. You may say that I am a little obsessed with hair styles. My attitude towards my hair is exactly the same towards my clothes; be individual, be who you want to be.
Ksubi AD/BC
The current Ksubi AD/BC collection has made me weak at the knees. The designers, whom are renowned for specialising in denim, have created a line for both males and females this year that is chic, street and comfy. The labels latest short film and appearance on the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festivals runway, demonstrates the collections opulence.
There are clearly a number of influences throughout the collection. Imperial architecture, royal prints and hues indicative of the aristocracy are a constant theme. Religion also seems to have made an impression on the designers with the use of graphic prints of cathedral like interiors as well as clergy inspired figures. It is clear that the unperturbed nature of street wear this season did not go unnoticed, inspiring aspects and designs throughout the collection.
Each individual piece is royally decadent and aesthetically beautiful. The collection boasts various textures and tones, from the use of metallic’s, leather, velvets and stamped embroideries to zips studs and darker hues. Ksubi has created a perfect fusion of street wear and the baroque. The collection provokes a feeling of strength through its majestic nature, yet quite easily juxtaposes this with the relaxed more bourgeois temperament of light wash denim.
My favourites? Of course I would kill to have the entire collection hanging in my wardrobe, but a few items in particular really speak to me.
For the ladies, the architecture inspired Peplum top and skirt is a favourite and a duo that will catch the eye of many when you are out crawling the night life. For a more relaxed feel that can be worn everyday the Neon Mary Sweat paired with the Leather Drop Crotch pant are divine. I haven’t forgotten about denim, the detailed Easy Rider dress is one that can be worn in all seasons of the year, and one I will surely purchase.
For the guys, a few key pieces caught my eye. The Jeezy Crew tee and Church Tee both demonstrate the thought and brilliance used in creating the graphic designs. The Two tone Black/Navy shorts and raw denim Ink full eye Vest are also worth a mention.
The Ksubi boys have not disappointed this year.
You can shop the AD/BC collection on the Ksubi Website. You can also keep track of the latest news on their Twitter and Instagram @Ksubi.

Coco Loco
So I have been hearing so much about this virgin coconut oil craze lately, that I decided to look into it myself. A little research and I found the health and wellbeing benefits are more than I could have imagined.
One of the most amazing things about virgin coconut oil is that it has multiple uses. For me, the benefits it has on my skin and hair are far beyond anything I have seen before. Applying it topically as a body oil and moisturiser, will help to provide balance and smooth out your skin. Not to mention adding a teaspoon of brown sugar and you have yourself a delicious exfoliating scrub that is good enough to eat (I am not joking! You can actually eat it). Finally adding it to your shampoo and conditioner, allows broken or damaged hair to absorb the nutrient rich oil, adding moisture and shine. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want luscious locks?
Chaos creates Beauty
A representation of Nietzsche’s ‘You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star’ by illustrator Charlie Gardiner.
Let’s face it we are all a little bit crazy at heart. But without such craziness and moments in which we just let go and enjoy the freedom of being, we would not be able to overcome the struggles of life nor would we see humanity’s true beauty. Let your soul wander and never settle for boring, because you are extraordinary.
