Take a closer look at our brilliant Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week style thanks to KMS California Australia, Maybelline New York – Australia, St Tropez Tan and featuring our customised Monster Products Australia & NZ headphones.
This Australian Fashion Week we’ve worked hard with Vittoria Coffee to produce a coffee cup the likes of which you’ve never seen before. At a weeklong event like fashion week, coffee (along with power naps) is what really gets one through what is always a massive week of shows, meetings and parties.
With that in mind, we designed a coffee cup, as vibrant as the hot hot caffeine it hols inside.
Final prep in the studio today for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. It’s eerily calm in here, and the anticipation is building of what we’re about to do on wednesday. We’re also building a live stream page so you can watch the show as it happens!
Of course, we couldn’t do any other this without the help of our fabulous sponsors Maybelline NY, Nail Rock Beauty, Monster Headphones, KMS Australia, Bondi Beach Cruisers, DHL Express, St Stropez Tan and ASOS.
Until wednesday… stal calm.
Since the seasons are changing, like any girl, my hair styles will need to change and adapt to suit this. So I have decided to seek hair inspiration. I have had every hair style under the sun, really short and choppy, long and luscious, medium and blunt, ombre, dye dip, blonde, brown, blonde again, boho style, concave…you name it I have had it. You may say that I am a little obsessed with hair styles. My attitude towards my hair is exactly the same towards my clothes; be individual, be who you want to be.
Nothing says summer like a pop of colour on the lips, so for our debut show we decided to step things up a notch. We enlisted MAC makeup guru Nicole Thompson, who created one of the most talked about makeup trends from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) by painting two-toned lips on models in bright pink and orange. Thompson relied on a layering technique to create the intense palette, using water-resistant products to set the colour, along with pre-mixed cream lipsticks and powder pigments.
Brows were right on trend with arches lifted to give them a feminine, almost cat-like feel. With the focus on the lips, eyes were softly shaded and cheeks were given a natural glow. Thompson created sun-kissed skin using a double coat of St Tropez Mousse (which we also included in the goodie bag) that was then topped off with the brand’s Bronzing Rocks shimmer powder.
We’d like to thank MAC and the amazingly talented Nicole Thompson and her team for helping bring our vision to life. We can’t wait to see two-toned lips on the street this summer.
You know how bad your hair feels after you’ve had it done for an event? Well times that by a hundred and you’ll get some idea of the condition of a model’s hair during fashion week. With back-to-back shows, they’re having their hair washed, dried and styled over and over again. That’s why we were thrilled to have TRESemme on board for our show. Between TRESemme and our hair style director Keiren Street, our girls hair not only looked stunning, it felt amazing too (if you were lucky enough to get that close!)
The style we chose for our models relied heavily on their locks being in top condition. Thanks to an incredible array of TRESemme products on hand, we were able to create a soft and romantic style to compliment the collection. Models strutted down the runway with hair slicked into a side part using red bobby pins, with long cascading beach waves down one shoulder.
A big thanks to the hair care gurus over at TRESemme for keeping our models locks looking luscious.
One of the best things about putting a show on is being able to collaborate with a whole bunch of amazing designers and creative visionaries. So over the next week, we’ll be revealing the talented people who helped make our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) debut possible.
With a colourful collection that included animalistic, landscape and floral inspired prints, we needed jewellery that could hold its own. So to compliment our pieces, we turned to jewellery designers MEZI. The Sydney-based label is designed by sister duo Tal Manning and Adva Punin who draw on their exotic Moroccan-Egyptian heritage to create eye-catching adornment. Using a pop of yellow and stacked shapes, the girls custom-designed a pair of tropical drop-style earrings that we couldn’t wait to see paired with our suits.
The earrings created the perfect finish to the styling of our models and we can’t thank MEZI enough for being a part of the show.
The latest collection from Nookie made me anxious. When three models stormed onto the catwalk in draped jersey mini dresses, long capes cinched in with skinny belts and matching strapped booties, I knew that I would not feel at ease until the entire ensemble was mine. Nikita Sernack’s label had well and truly hit my radar. Not that I’m surprised. Since its debut in 2003, the label has gained a reputation amongst buyers as one of the most wearable around. And judging by the rest of this collection, I’d have to agree. Sernack’s floral prints are some of the prettiest I’ve seen, which can only mean one thing. We’ve got some serious purchasing decisions to make.
