How to: Get Perfect Beach Curls

I’ve always loved the look of my hair after a long day at the beach. The invigorating salt, creates such a natural wave and curl that I have always wished to create on my own. Recently a friend gave me the perfect recipe for creating the very best beach curls. The best part? It is full of organic goodness for my hair and NO horrible heat tools are needed.

SO here it is. Tried and tested by me: THE PERFECT BEACH CURL CONCOCTION

What you will need:

1 Spray Bottle

3-4 tablespoons of Sea salt (this will achieve the crisp beachy look)

2-3 pumps of organic water based hair gel

1/2 teaspoon of organic Coconut based conditioning and styling creme (avoid too much as it will weigh down your hair)

2 drops of an essential oil of your choosing

What you need to do:

1. After washing your hair, towel dry and lightly blow wave until your hair is semi dry.

2. Add salt, conditioning creme, organic hair gel and droplets of oil into the spray bottle and fill with water. Shake the bottle well to mix.

3. Spray your hair until it is very damp. Using your fingers, scrunch your hair well or twist into curls and let your hair dry. For a more full on effect, braid or fish plait your hair until it dries.

4. When your hair is dry, use your fingers to maintain the curls. Add hairspray to hold if needed.

5. Rock your perfect beach curls!

Dove’s running a nifty new ad campaign called “Real Beauty Sketches” where they use a police sketch artist to compare a woman’s take on her looks with a stranger’s take. Regardless of our shape or size, skin colour or age, I guess we’re all real women; we hate our noses, think our knees are fat, wish those smile lines around our mouths would quit getting deeper.

Even though our inner critic holds up the most unflattering mirror, it’s a comfort to think that others see a different, much more pleasant reflection.

The fall shows are finished, and this season I’m interested in how runway translates to real life. Happy will be the day that I can buy a head to toe Chloe look, but for now I have to be creative with what I’ve got and start squirreling away all my dubloons.

The trends are the usual suspects: menswear, punk rock, statement coats, lots of fur, but what about the faces? All the girls had fabulous strong eyebrows, and the make-up was either scrubbed fresh, or glowing with rosy cheeks, and bright, juicy lips.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could wear what we see in the shows right after they finish? I propose fall faces for summer. My favourites after the jump.

Now I know it is summer somewhere in the world, but Australia just kicked into Autumn and Melbourne…..well let’s just say winter has come early. Along with this cold snap has come my winter skin. Yes no longer have I got my sun kissed, salt water loving, luminous skin that summer ever so blesses me with each year. The pasty look is back and no I don’t mean its back in season, it’s more of a back with a vengeance kind of deal. Then comes the dryness of your skin and lips that goes with the cold wind..ouch not fun at all.

One of my favourite things to do when I am out shopping is get amongst the lippy shade isles. I always go in with visions in my head of how a colour will look on me, based on what I have seen on-line,  in a magazine or on a celebrity. That is half the fun. Lets face it, we all want perfect pouty lips. There is just something about a lipstick shade that adds edge  to an everyday outfit.

Nailed it.

Ever since I was young I have always taken pride in how my nails looked. They were always perfectly manicured, shaped and painted just the way I wanted them. Even at school (where clearly nail polish was not allowed) I always had to break the boundaries and wear bright beautiful colours. I have my mother to thank for this. We share a mutual love of nail polish and decorations, and may have more nail polish combined then anyone we know.

Our mutual love has recently extended to quirky nail art. Aztec, floral, metallic and striped prints have all caught my eye recently. Depending on how adventurous and daring mum and I feel, we will either go a full set of prints, or choose one or two nails to be different. My favourites are anything with an unusual graphic print, as I like my nails to be individual just like my style. How they fit so much detail into one tiny space I will never know. Pure genius.

Generally when I find a nail product that will last me at least 7 days, looks amazing and protects my nail making it stronger, I am a very happy and content woman. Which is why I am super excited to see our exciting new collaboration with Nail Rock fresh on the runway, at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Their designs are rad and provide everything I am looking for in a nail product. Whilst we cannot give away what we have in stall for you on the runway, I can say this; it will be very Handsome.

Remember, style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. Be individual and let your choices reflect who you are as an individual. Nail it, every time.

• Delivery is via FedEx Smart Post (with tracking) and generally takes 2-7 business days – it costs $5 USD.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY GARMENT?

Although our garments may make you feel invincible, the swimsuit itself is rather delicate.

Make sure you follow these easy steps to make sure your piece of We Are Handsome stays with you forever!

  • Use a mild detergent while hand washing it separately in cold water.
  • Pretty please don’t tumble dry, wring, soak or bleach your garment (that’s just cruel), it’s best to let it dry in the shade.
  • Try not to leave it rolled up and wet, make sure you rinse it really well after each use, especially if you’re spending a lot of time frolicking in an infinity pool – or a non-infinity pool for that matter!
  • Please don’t iron or dry-clean it.
  • Also, try to stay away from rough surfaces as it could cause pilling, and we all know that is not a good look.

RETURNS and ORDERS POLICY

  • You must notify WE ARE HANDSOME within 7 calendar days of accepting delivery of the order AND arrange return of the item/s within 7 calendar days after receiving our email authorizing the return.

 

  • To notify WE ARE HANDSOME, email your proof of purchase, being an invoice or email confirmation from WE ARE HANDSOME, to our customer service team at customerlove@wearehandsome.com .

 

  • All sale purchases are final and cannot be returned (including exchanges, credit notes and refunds). We kindly ask that you carefully consider your items before purchasing. Sale returns will only be accepted if the merchandise is faulty or wrongly described.

 

  • During sale periods where a discount code is used, any orders placed prior to the start time of the sale will not be eligible for the discount. THIS INCLUDES CURRENT SALE: 10TH Birthday Sale

 

  • Item/s must be unworn, unwashed and in the original sellable condition. All labels, packaging and hygiene stickers must be attached and in their original condition.

 

  • Customers are responsible for organising the shipment of returns including the cost to send the return back to us. WE ARE HANDSOME is not responsible for the shipment of returns and will not replace or process a return that is lost during shipment. We recommend shipping returns through a tracked service.

 

  • It is not the responsibility of WE ARE HANDSOME to pay or reimburse customers for any government import fees, taxes and/or charges that may be applied to orders. It is the responsibility of customers to be aware of and pay any such costs that their country may apply to imported goods.

 

  • Refunds are made to the credit card that was used to make the original purchase and are for the cost of items only. Shipping costs will not be refunded. Please allow 7 business days for the refund transaction to be completed back onto your card. We will contact you via the email address listed on your order when the refund has taken place.

 

  • For exchanges, we will require a shipping payment to be made prior to re-shipment. We will request this payment from you via PayPal. The charges are as follows:
    • USA Domestic $10
    • International Express $15 (International costs will be in the relevant currency)

 

  • Due to the select nature of our product, we cannot guarantee the availability of merchandise for exchanges

 

  • Once your return order has been received your order will be processed within 7 business days. During holiday periods/sale seasons it may take longer.

 

  • We do not accept returns from purchases made through our stockists. We can only process returns on purchases that were processed through our e-boutique.

 

  • Stock quantities are not updated in real time, and therefore occasionally an item may be sold out at time of purchase. If you purchase an item that is sold out, you will be notified by email as soon as possible and offered a suitable replacement or full refund.

 

  • Delivery delays may occur during high volume and peak periods or due to unforeseen reasons. During these times, please allow an additional 7 business days for your order to be delivered. Russian/ South African customers may need more patience by reason of the local delivery system and customs­­.
