In a world where fashion can often be driven by consumerism, there is a need for both film and print editorial, to reflect the individual creation of style and go beyond just surface aesthetics, telling stories of creativity and originality. It is often rare that you find this. Joshua Kissi & Travis Gumbs of Street Etiquette are believers in this concept and it is through their vision along with fellow collaborators; the Visual Supply Company and Photographer Rog Walker, their latest project SLUMFLOWER, came to life.
There is just something about this girl. Olivia Palermo. When she was first introduced to us on The City she received a lot of criticism for being a naive socialite snob. But I guess that’s the thing about reality television, you don’t always know what’s true and what’s not. More recently her involvement with charitable organizations and collaborations with well known luxury brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, suggests that this girl is definitely switched on and knows how to market herself. One thing I do know for sure, is that Olivia Palermo has style and is one I watch for fashion inspiration.
All you NYC cool kids, stop what you’re doing right this moment and head over to Owen.
Conceptualised and run by Phillip Salem, Owen is the latest We Are Handsome stockist and simply one of our favourite stores. “We hope to make the client feel exceptional in the clothes they buy and skin they live in.” Says Phillip.
“Fashion to me is a preference, not a rule, so I focus on pieces that are modern, structured and detail oriented – with a subtle flair for the dramatic”.
If the difference is in the detail, then Owen has you covered. From the spectacular decor, to their creative atmosphere, to their celebration of both emerging and established brands, Owen is definitely a New York space to watch. The fact that the OWEN training manual’s first page reads, “Everyone that walks in the door should be treated like Beyoncé” (um, YES PLEASE) only makes us love them that much more.
Ps. Are you all freaking out over the walls? Who needs paint when you have paper bags? We’ve have been showing off the pictures all week. Check out more gorgeous photos after the jump. Continue reading
I shot this on my way to NYC this year. LAX has been undergoing renovations for years it seems, but the place still feels like the 70’s.
