It’s the question that is on all the gym junkie’s lips. Does the illusive thirst-quencher that is coconut water contain all the good stuff or is it just another ‘fitspiration’ fad? Well, there is proof in its popularity and I can give you a few reasons why this super food isn’t one to overlook. After all, the body is a temple.

Surprise the scales.

With extremely low fat content, coconut water isn’t one to make you feel guilty. Being richer than water, using it as your post-gym beverage won’t only refresh and keep you hydrated, but also keep you fuller for longer.

Coconut water really does act as a 2 for 1. If you suffer from acne or any other unwelcome blemishes, using coconut water specifically on these areas is well worth it, as it will clear and tone the skin. Applying and consuming it both, will assist in moisturising the skin whilst remove large amounts of unwanted oils. So we all know what that means – tasty skincare on a budget!

Maroubra Beach, Maroubra Bay

I love Bondi Beach as much as the next Australian, but if you want to escape the crowds one weekend, look not much further and you’ll find Maroubra Beach. Just twenty minutes from Bondi, passing through Tamarama, Bronte and Clovelly, Maroubra has some of the Eastern Suburb’s gnarliest surf (for those who can!). With its beautiful one kilometre stretch of glowing white sand, there’s plenty of walking, swimming and tanning to be done (Your most Handsome pair of togs will feel right at home!).

Hidden in Paddington’s backstreets is the very trendy ‘it’ spot, The London. Its secluded upstairs bar offers a groovy range of craft beers, wines and spirits accompanied by a menu with a difference offering gourmet pizzas and creative, healthy salads to go with hearty Paddington pub food. A perfect post-work wind down on a Friday evening or the perfect Saturday night spot to head with friends after an afternoon hitting the Oxford Street shops.

Dominique LeToullec does it all: model, blogger, personal trainer and online trainer and nutritionist. With a successful background particularly in personal training, Dominique has some great success stories to tell, helping people achieve their fitness goals and amazing body transformations. So, who better than Dominique to bring some motivation and inspiration to the We Are Handsome runway; safe to say her energy matched the activewear she was rocking.

What inspired you to start being active/to be an athlete?

I love feeling and being fit and healthy, that in its own motivates me.

Results also keep me extremely motivated, I love keeping my body in shape and being lean and toned all year around. Watching other people achieve their goals and being able to help them achieve them is also one of the most rewarding feelings that is a constant motivation.

What do you love most about this lifestyle?

I love that I live a balanced healthy life that makes me feel grateful and happy everyday. Looking after yourself is so important and I get to not only do that on a day to day basis but I also get to help others do so as well through personal training.

What is a normal day like for you?

I wake up early usually 5am, I start with a glass of warm water and lemon to kick start my metabolism.

I then take my puppy Bali (A beautiful Aussie bulldog) for a quick walk and then head to Icebergs gym located at Bondi Beach to start training my morning clients. I usually train between 3-6 clients every morning.

I then head home and take Bali for a big play and work from home doing my online training and nutrition programs, working on my health and fitness blog www.dominiqueletoullec.blogspot.com.au that I am revamping and also my website that is going through a big change and will be re-launched next year www.bodybydominique.com I think it is very important to update things regularly and I am planning on making these two sites absolutely amazing!

I then return back to the gym in the afternoon and train clients into the nighttime. Again ranging from 3-6 clients. I’m very selective with who I train, they have to want it themselves and be willing to put in 100% to achieve the results they are wanting.

On somedays I have photoshoots. Yesterday I shot a billboard for a very well known health and fitness company that is launching a new protein powder, I have to be tightlipped but it will be released soon and you’re bound to see it.

I do a lot of commercial modelling which I absolutely love. I love representing brands that mean something to me. Most of the time I am modelling for fitness/health companies. Rebel Sport is a company which I have worked for, for many years which is the powerhouse of supply Australia with some of the best sports brands. I have done TV Commercials for Rebel, Berlei sports bras, Power Tube Pro and many more. I of course do all types of modelling with my modelling agency WINK MODELS in Australia and also internationally. From commercials to catalogues, its an amazing industry that I am happy to be apart of. I am also a brand ambassador for a number of health and fitness products, and I love receiving the new products that hit the market and telling my online followers as well as clients and friends about the new amazing product/fashion item etc that has hit the market. Sharing knowledge from something you have personally experienced/received is, I think the best way to give advice on anything. I look forward to working with and representing some amazing companies and brands in my career!

How do you balance your time?

I am a great organiser! This probably comes from me being an event manager for 8 years prior to becoming a personal trainer. I structure my day to fit everything in and have diaries, to do lists etc to ensure my time is balanced the way it needs to be.

What is your favourite work out?

My special booty and ab workout that I do twice a week and all my female clients absolutely love!

What is your best beauty tip?

Moisturise, your skin needs to be hydrated and will thank you for it! I love silky smooth skin!

Favourite work out music/song?

I love all types of music, my favourite track at the moment is Lean on by Major Laser feat. DJ Snake. Killer track for the gym!

Your favourite thing to do when you are not working out?

Spend time with my baby girl, my bulldog who’s name is Bali.

Favourite place you have travelled to?

I have many. I recently went to the Maldives and can definitely say its one of the most amazing places I’ve travelled to.

Dream place you’d like to travel to?

Everywhere, I want to explore the world over and over again.

Surfing superstar Shayelle Lajoie loves life by the sea as much as we do at We Are Handsome; so, a lot. Shayelle has turned the challenges of maintaining an active and effective lifestyle into motivation to make her day to day a constant adventure and an opportunity to achieve. WAH activewear was created to inspire, motivate and empower all that wear it; so who better than Shayelle to put it to the test?

What inspired you to start being active/to be an athlete? 

I started as a dancer for 18 years and to me, dancing was life. Concerts, competitions, new friends and of course making your body do crazy things- it all came together like one big snowball and just gets funner, more interactive and exciting the more you learn and achieve. I was introduced to surfing at age 18 and took it as a challenge, next thing I knew a few sponsors got on board, I began competing and realised I just simply could not do life without this new sport in my life! The ocean is that place for me where everything comes together and makes sense.

What do you love most about this lifestyle? 

The freedom, the endless discovery of new surf locations, the challenge of different conditions every single surf and the unique encounters with people and animals!

What is a normal day like for you? 

Early yoga, surf, work and race back to the sea for a sunset surf.

How do you balance your time? 

Terribly. I make plans and if the surf is fun, all goes out the window and I’m in the ocean, that’s where you’ll find me.

What is your favourite work out? 

H.I.I.T – I love a good heart racing sweat!

What is your best beauty tip? 

Coconut oil, on everything. Literally. Hair. Skin. Face. Teeth.

What do you eat on an average day? 

The whole food pyramid plus chocolate, always coconut water, Figs and sashimi.

Currently: “Borderline” by Tove Styrke (but I secretly bounce around to my room to every Taylor Swift song, that’ll help anyone crack a sweat.

Sit in the boot of my car, sipping on tea and watch the ocean do its thing.

While surfing a longboard in Hawaii, I managed to get up into a handstand with my legs in the splits, and got the footage on my GoPro! In the same day I got footage of holding an octopus.. which I later found out wasn’t the best idea.

Beach babe and sprinting champion Katie Williams is a fierce competitor by day and a WAH runway superstar by night. With health and fitness goals reached and made, Katie defines motivation. This blonde bombshell’s vibrant personality matched our equally vibrant pieces, energetically modelling the WAH activewear range at our Mercedes Benz Fashion Week show.

What inspired you to start being active/to be an athlete?

My dad was a sprinter and my family is very athletic, we all love sport and being active. Growing up I was encouraged to be fit & play team sports.

What do you love most about this lifestyle?

An active life is a happy life, moving my body and pushing myself physically & mentally everyday is an endorphin rush!

What is a normal day like for you?

Wake up, have a bulletproof coffee (black coffee & coconut oil), pack my food for the day, off to University & training every afternoon, either at the track or at the gym with my PT. My nights are time to see my friends & family and my weekends are adventures!

 How do you balance your time?

Good question…. I’m still trying to learn time management, I am a YES girl, I say yes to everything. Finding enough time to exercise, work, study, & socialise, is organised Chaos. But I’ve learnt the power of rest, I am very busy but now I understand and how important rest is to get the most out of my body physically. I use my dairy to track my time and important dates, my dairy is my life, without writing down events, castings & appointments my life would be crazier. I need structure in my life, because I am one daydreaming & forgetful lady!

What is your favourite work out?

The Sprint Track, forever and ever baby! Sprinting is the most intense and relaxing workout, it’s my meditation and sometimes my nightmare. For as long as I have legs I will run for the rest of my life

What is your best beauty tip?

A healthy and balanced diet. Plenty of nutritious foods and beauty sleep!

What do you eat on an average day?

My day starts after COFFEE! Green smoothie in the morning, chia seed pudding for mid morning snack, lunch might be a brown rice Tuna & Avocado salad, and dinner will be lower carb either chicken, fish or turkey with a salad, veggies or maybe some homemade baked sweet potato fries. I snack on fruit, loads of nuts, whole eggs, rice cakes + peanut butter, and I do love a good Quest protein bar! I also love making healthy alternatives, I have a MASSIVE sweet tooth and find myself drooling over chocolate at nighttime, so if I prep myself some Coconut Cacao balls sweetened with dates or some protein pancakes already made I don’t find myself feeling unsatisfied!

Favourite work out music/song?

I listen to Eminem when I’m at the gym, to Amp myself up!

Your favourite thing to do when you are not working out?

Surfing & shopping, or snooping around the organic markets.

Favourite place you have travelled to?

Positano – Italy ! It was literally heaven!

Dream place you’d like to travel to?

Greek islands is next on the bucket list

Fitness goal you dream to reach?

The Human Flag pole, a muscle up, 40 Kilo weighted Chin up, to Box Jump my shoulder height

How do you see your future?

Health & fitness has become my life and I am working towards career in the industry. I have been working for FoxSports as an Interviewer for a TV show called the “Summer of Surf” and I am absolutely LOVING it. I have had some amazing opportunities meeting people & networking with some incredible personalities, although I’m not sure just yet what my “Dream Job” is, but I want a career that is inspiring and motivates me everyday, I am totally open minded to the industry, & it’s no lie that fancy the camera 😉

Positive, driven and life-loving Amanda Bisk played a major role in the success of our Fashion Week show. With boundless amounts of energy, Amanda has incorporated all aspects of health and fitness into her life, as a elite pole vault trainer, yoga instructor and cross fit coach. She really has done it all, including bring her A-game to our showcase of active wear in true We Are Handsome fashion: fun and fabulous.

What inspired you to start being active/to be an athlete?

My dad put me into gymnastics when I was 3, so I have been active pretty much all my life! But the thing that inspires me to keep going and to keep living an active life is the way it makes me feel. Exercise gives me strength (both physically & mentally) confidence & the biggest energy boost!

What do you love most about this lifestyle?

I love the way it can unite people. Those little fitness moments when you workout next to someone in the gym and you start chatting, you make friends with someone you always see in your yoga class, saying hello to the people you pass on your morning run or the understanding you have with the person next to you in your bootcamp class. It’s an awesome community!

What is a normal day like for you?

I don’t really have a normal day, my schedule changes all the time! But at the moment I get up at 6:30/7am and go down to the park for a 30min workout, get home and practise a little bit of yoga and stretching, have a shower then pack up my laptop & a note pad and head to my local cafe for breakfast. This is where I work on the computer for a few hours, answer emails, write blogs, research exercise/food journals, work on my website design etc and also work on my next project (at the moment it is a new ebook!). Then I usually go home around 1:30pm, have lunch and then prepare to shoot my worldwide yoga class video. My boyfriend (who is behind all my filming, photos and even website design) will help me shoot my yoga vid which can sometimes take a few hours. Then we might go for a walk along the coast or play some tennis for an hour. I cook up dinner usually at 7pm, then chill out with the TV or some music, stretch in the living room with some candles and slowly wind down for bedtime at 10pm 🙂

How do you balance your time?

I am a big fan of a diary! I use a written diary as well as alerts on my phone. I like to sit down the night before to organise what I will do the next day.

What is your favourite work out?

I love bodyweight circuits and sprinting!

What is your best beauty tip?

Drink plenty of water & eat lots of vegetable & fruit, beautiful clear skin comes from the inside! And moisturise…a lot!!

What do you eat on an average day?

Breakfast: Eggs on whole grain toast with avocado. A long black coffee with a dash of soy.

Breakfast is usually big so I won’t normally eat till lunch. If I’m hungry I will have some vegetable sticks with hummus/guacamole or a handful of dried fruit & nuts.

Lunch: huge salad (tuna/four bean mix, spinach, cucumber, tomato, broccoli, spring onion, carrot, avocado, capsicum, mushroom, dressed with balsamic glaze & lemon) with brown rice, quinoa, or toast on the side.

Snack: fruit with almond butter and some dates.

Dinner: vegetable stirfry with egg, noodles & crushed nuts on top.

Dessert: few cubes of dark chocolate & mango or watermelon.

Favourite work out music/song?

Love hip hop/r&b and dance/house. Ministry of Sound is always a fave 🙂

Your favourite thing to do when you are not working out?

Going to the beach!! I love everything about the beach and outdoors.

Favourite place you have travelled to?

Switzerland. So amazingly beautiful.

Dream place you’d like to travel to?

At the moment, Greek Islands.

To pole vault again 🙂

How do you see your future?

I know I will always be in the fitness and health industry. I’ll be travelling and teaching yoga, running & bodyweight training. I want to get involved and understand all types of fitness & learn as much as I can. I also hope to have a fitness and yoga studio 🙂

Kate Kendall uses her skills in health, fitness and particularly yoga for good! With a jam packed schedule as a professional yoga teacher,  she believes in being able to stay in great shape even with everyday ‘chill out’s’ which she is passionate about. Kate put WAH activewear to the test with leading a pre-show yoga class for all our Fitgirls and later proceeded to rock the runway. She is an absolute blast to work with!

What inspired you to start being active/to be an athlete?

I got into yoga out of vanity. I wanted to get leaner limbs and toned stomach. I got that but more – more mental clarity and calm. I got into it when I wasn’t in a great place mentally and it was the only thing that balanced me out. It was my medicine.

What do you love most about this lifestyle?

Helping people feel good!

What is a normal day like for you?

I’m generally up by 6am and in bed by 10pm. First half of the day is when I’m most creative so after I practice yoga or train, I’ll get into writing any articles that are on deadline or teach classes. I like to pause for lunch and get out of the studio into fresh air or hang with a friend. The afternoon is generally meetings, classes and connecting with Flow Athletic members.  I’m also out and about a lot for shoots and meetings. Every day is a little different to the last which I really love.

How do you balance your time?

Discipline and a good diet – without which I get lazy.

What is your favourite work out?

20min run – 60min yoga

What is your best beauty tip?

Sleep and lots of water

What do you eat on an average day?

A smoothie in the morning (banana, chia seeds, coconut water, protein), hearty salad with protein for lunch and dinner is much the same. I love snacking though – it keeps me going. I have a sweet tooth that kicks in around 3pm – that’s when I know I need to meditate.

Favourite work out music/song?

Rap for running and anything with a cruisey beat for yoga.

Your favourite thing to do when you are not working out?

Walking with my boyfriend and his dog, Indie, or chilling out reading a book.

Favourite place you have travelled to?

India and Prague

Fitness goal you dream to reach?

My only goal is that I stay agile as I age.

How do you see your future?

Surrounded by people I love, laughter, loads of space to enjoy life, travel and experience things.

A photo that my boyfriend took a little while ago of the two of us laughing in the street. It’s really simple but captures exactly how we felt on the day. Every time I look at it, it makes me smile.
