If you’re wondering who the hot surfer dude is in the new series of Chanel ads, its pro surfer Danny Fuller. He’s the new face of Chanel fragrance Allure Homme Sport, shooting four short films at a secret break in Hawaii.
He was cast after a male model auditioning for the campaign recognized him in the reference shot the casting director was using. After pointing out it was Fuller and that he did indeed still look like the image they were trying to recreate, Chanel tracked him down to star in their campaign. The brand didn’t mess around. They brought in Kathryn Bigelow, Academy Award-winning film director of The Hurt Locker and Point Break, along with a 150-strong crew.
What surprised us was that there were no four grand, logo-emblazoned Chanel surfboards in sight. Instead Fuller used two shortboards and two grovellers, all sprayed with a metallic pearl-white paint and sponsor-sticker-free. The only nod to his sponsor RVCA was the simple pair of boardies he wore.
When asked in an interview with Stab Magazine if he got paid around the 40 grand mark, he wouldn’t give anything away, but he did say it was much, much more and that his kids would be going to private schools.
Loving these portraits of 100 women in BLK DNM shot by Inez & Vinoodh.
Each portrait features the BLK DNM Tux Jacket 11, yet each woman brings her own sense of grace and style to the photo. They are simple, but stunning and timeless.

If you’ve been wondering what Daimon Downey’s been getting up to since he left Sneaky Sound System, he’s making art. He teamed up with concept label Bay & Fyfe, after the label’s owner Frith Hucks purchased a piece from Downey’s solo exhibition in New York late last year. Together they’ve created wearable art in the form of luxurious limited edition scarves. Drawing on a series of six paintings titled ‘Pastel Zoo’, Downey’s works transfer paint into print and play off the notion of life versus death and good versus evil. Each scarf comes in a run of 400, so grab one before they disappear.
The crafty/clever Elsie from A Beautiful Mess Blog has outdone herself in the DIY department. This magazine clutch is so innovative. I really like the all over prints on this clutch – oooh, all over prints, does this sound familiar?
Her instructions to make your own is as follows:
1. Supplies: magazines, laminating sheets, embroidery thread, scissors. 2. Begin by ripping out your favorite magazine pages for your clutch. 3. After you’ve picked your favorite, assort them in a collage and apply the laminating pages directly on top. We went really slow with this step, making sure the laminating sheets lined up perfectly. Once you’ve the covered the entire area, cut it into a perfect square. 4. Then, begin forming the clutch by folding three corners to the middle and securing them in place with another laminating sheet. 5. Next, cut the corners of the sides, making the top corner able to fold down farther. 6. Lastly, attach a hook and button so you can close it shut!

Nothing says summer like a pop of colour on the lips, so for our debut show we decided to step things up a notch. We enlisted MAC makeup guru Nicole Thompson, who created one of the most talked about makeup trends from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) by painting two-toned lips on models in bright pink and orange. Thompson relied on a layering technique to create the intense palette, using water-resistant products to set the colour, along with pre-mixed cream lipsticks and powder pigments.
Brows were right on trend with arches lifted to give them a feminine, almost cat-like feel. With the focus on the lips, eyes were softly shaded and cheeks were given a natural glow. Thompson created sun-kissed skin using a double coat of St Tropez Mousse (which we also included in the goodie bag) that was then topped off with the brand’s Bronzing Rocks shimmer powder.
We’d like to thank MAC and the amazingly talented Nicole Thompson and her team for helping bring our vision to life. We can’t wait to see two-toned lips on the street this summer.
You know how bad your hair feels after you’ve had it done for an event? Well times that by a hundred and you’ll get some idea of the condition of a model’s hair during fashion week. With back-to-back shows, they’re having their hair washed, dried and styled over and over again. That’s why we were thrilled to have TRESemme on board for our show. Between TRESemme and our hair style director Keiren Street, our girls hair not only looked stunning, it felt amazing too (if you were lucky enough to get that close!)
The style we chose for our models relied heavily on their locks being in top condition. Thanks to an incredible array of TRESemme products on hand, we were able to create a soft and romantic style to compliment the collection. Models strutted down the runway with hair slicked into a side part using red bobby pins, with long cascading beach waves down one shoulder.
A big thanks to the hair care gurus over at TRESemme for keeping our models locks looking luscious.
One of the best things about putting a show on is being able to collaborate with a whole bunch of amazing designers and creative visionaries. So over the next week, we’ll be revealing the talented people who helped make our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) debut possible.
With a colourful collection that included animalistic, landscape and floral inspired prints, we needed jewellery that could hold its own. So to compliment our pieces, we turned to jewellery designers MEZI. The Sydney-based label is designed by sister duo Tal Manning and Adva Punin who draw on their exotic Moroccan-Egyptian heritage to create eye-catching adornment. Using a pop of yellow and stacked shapes, the girls custom-designed a pair of tropical drop-style earrings that we couldn’t wait to see paired with our suits.
The earrings created the perfect finish to the styling of our models and we can’t thank MEZI enough for being a part of the show.
