While in Bondi on Sunday we took a visit to the local markets. I spotted this really wicked/ eclectic jewelery line called Betty and Cash. Jessica McMullen is the creative genius behind this industrial meets vintage range. She individually creates and hand makes all her jewelery, which makes for totally unique pieces. What caught my eye initially was the simplicity of the geometric shapes and the contemporary designs. Each piece I tried on was so wearable, I really hadn’t seen such original, cutting edge designs in a while. Any rings, necklaces or bracelets I have seen lately has reminded me of other designs, nothing has been truly innovative! The diamond series was my absolute favourite, especially the rings. I can’t wait to head back to Bondi markets next time I’m in town!
When I stumbled across this installation last week it got me thinking about many things in my life. Candy Chang (installation artist, designer, urban planner) turned an abandoned house into a giant chalkboard where the community could write down and remember what is important to them in life. I think turning an abandoned house into a constructive art space is a wicked idea. I especially like that this artwork is constantly changing. Once the wall is filled, they wash it down and the next set of goals are written down. It is somewhat similar to the Polaroid project, which you can read about here. Continue reading
With the crappy weather the Gold Coast had over the weekend, we found ourselves indoors watching movies most of Sunday. “1990 The Bronx Warriors” was one of the movies we watched. I loved the costumes/ styling so much I decided to take screen shots and show you all! The Skulls, leather jackets, Military jackets, aviators, chunky rings etc were to die for. It’s my style to a tee! Continue reading
Our skin is our largest organ- It lives, it breaths and absorbs everything it comes in contact with. So, I think it is extremely important to nurture it. Over the past few years more and more people have made the switch to organic/ natural beauty products. So much so, I would even say that organic skin care is now the “norm” amongst many women. A lot of people are concerned with their health and try, wherever possible, to avoid exposing themselves to potentially dangerous chemicals. I know I’d rather use natural ingredients rather than irritating, harmful chemicals on my skin.
But what is Organic skincare exactly? Read on…
Elusive graffiti artist, Banksy, whose identity is not publicly known, is suspected of being behind a number of Banksy-style graffiti pieces that have cropped up over the past few days. With a drunken Mickey Mouse on Sunset Boulevard and a urinating dog in Beverly Hills there has been speculation that Bansky is in LA leading up to the Oscars! I have been an avid Banksy fan for a while- so I love when new pieces of his work pop up. The artworks featured in this post have been taken down in the last couple of days, which is a total shame. I think they should be kept up for public viewing- after all they are works of art!
