My earliest memories of hats aren’t the fondest. I always remember long days in the sun when I was younger and Mum forcing me to wear this dorky fluro cap with the flap on the back, to keep the sun off my neck. Even at a young age I was fashion conscious and kept telling mum how incredibly daggy she was making me look. I am sure that from an adults perspective I looked adorable but needless to say I was never impressed with Mum and Dads hat choice.
But alas, I grew up (thank god) and got to choose my own hats. Now I have a very strong bond with the hats I choose. Why? Well I am quite small, so I do battle to keep a hat on my head without it being ruined by the wind, blowing off my head and into the ocean or the bushes or even on the road. So you can imagine that when I find a hat I love and that fits….I am a happy girl.
Currently I am loving Lack Of Color. Their selection of wide brimmed hats in different colours, is not only on trend but perfect for the impending scorching heat of the Australian summer. One must look stylish whilst being sun smart. One of the things I love about Lack of Color is that they sell the option of hat filler! So for tiny humans like myself who have a mini head, you can line the hat with hat filler so that it neatly and comfortably fits your head without your hat flying off into the sunset. Bonus!
My pick? The Montana Midnight Muse
A hat can say a lot about a person. Just make sure its not fluro and daggy like my childhoods.
