Well, here’s something truly amazing: Last week, a “megapod” of dolphins – tens of thousands of them frolicked, breached and jumped, swarming together in a 7-mile stretch of water near San Diego, CA.
Capt. Joe Dutra of Hornblower Cruises said he saw a “super mega-pod” of common dolphins Thursday around noon while he was on his daily tour. He said the pod was more than seven miles long and five miles wide.
Dutra said the boat tour followed the pod for more than an hour and said he’s never seen anything like it.
“When you see something that is honestly truly beyond belief,” the captain said.
“It’s one of those things you can hope for it, but you can’t plan for it,” he said. “It’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of beautiful and interesting things” on the water.
He said the sensation was like being in the midst of a herd of wild horses. The dash began in an instant, he said. At some points the dolphins reached speeds of more than 25 mph, outpacing his boat.

Watch one of the tourists’ videos – just amazing.
Larger pods are not unheard of but they usually contain no more than about 200 dolphins, and as such, this super-mega-pod is unprecedented.

Wow – Garrett McNamara surfed possibly the biggest wave in history this morning.
Big Wave week in Portugal attracts hundreds of the worlds best Big wave surfers essentially to come and try not to die whilst risding waves almost 100ft high. Just wow!

Photographer Viktor Lyagushkin shared his recent project with us – Amazing images of the Orda Cave – the biggest underwater gypsum cave in the world. Situated near Orda village (Perm region, Ural, Russia) the cave has extremely low water temperature – about 3C and 20C below zero on surface. The cave is extended down and wide- about 5 km.
These shots speak for themselves and, besides being technically brilliant are something to marvel at. Just breathtaking.

Good news! Astronomers in the USA have found a new planet – made pretty much only our of diamonds. WHAT!
Orbiting a star that is visible to the naked eye, astronomers have discovered a planet twice the size of our own made largely out of diamond.
The rocky planet, called 55 Cancri e, orbits a sun-like star in the constellation of Cancer and is moving so fast that a year there lasts a mere 18 hours.
Discovered by a US-Franco research team, its radius is twice that of Earth’s but it is much more dense with a mass eight times greater.
It is also incredibly hot, with temperatures on its surface reaching 1,648 degrees Celsius.
“The surface of this planet is likely covered in graphite and diamond rather than water and granite,” said Yale researcher Nikku Madhusudhan, whose findings are due to be published in the journal Astrophysical Journal Letters.
The study – with Olivier Mousis at the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planetologie in Toulose, France – estimates that at least one-third of the planet’s mass, the equivalent of about three Earth masses, could be diamond.

Well, I was going to write a whole mess of information about this but i think it’s better left said: this is an underwater restaurant in the maldives called Ithaa. Yep.

At the end of Kanye West’s Australian tour earlier this year, his dancers decided to make him a thank you present in the form of a flash mob in mid air to the track ‘Runaway’. The Virgin crew were definitely pretty amazing for letting this piece of mid flight brilliance happen!
