I don’t know about the rest of you, but sometime around the fourth month of the year as the days start to shorten and Autumn sets in, us Aussies start to feel as though we deserve a getaway.
(NB: I use the term ‘deserve’ lightly – it’s well known and accepted that October through March is spent either in preparation for or winding down from the festive summer season.)
But anyway, here’s what I’m dreaming of…
Hotel Il Pellicano is situated on the cliffs of a secluded bay in Tuscany’s Porto Ercole and has a long history of playing home to the rich, famous & glamourous jet setting types.
Throughout the years legendary photographers to the likes of John Swopes, Slim Aarons and Juergen Teller have been there to capture some of the magic that is, and have presented these photos to us today in book form. “The book presents three different epochs in the history of this modern-day dolce vita. A Visitor’s Note by Bob Colacello and a full history of the hotel by Bronwyn Cosgrave explore Il Pellicano’s illustrious legacy and its continuing seductive allure”. Yes please.
Whilst it is tempting to get on the next flight out of here and make my dreams reality, I have made the sensible choice to do this only when I can book the Master De Luxe Sea View With Pool Suit for at least a month at €1.280,00 per night no worries.
