As many of you know, I love cold pressed virgin coconut oil. Teisha Lowry, the owner and creator of INDAH Organics was the very person who inspired my research into the benefits of Virgin Coconut oil. Being an expert in the field of aromatherapy and ayurvedic remedies, Teisha has created line of organics designed to nourish and replenish. From the business’s strong ethos towards local fair trade farms, respect for quality organic properties, cruelty free processes and stance against the use of Palm oil, the brand is one I respect and admire. I have been lucky enough to follow Teishas journey over the past couple of years and see INDAH Organics grow into a credible, successful and amazing holistic business. I was fortunate enough to chat to Teisha about her skin care range, the benefits of coconut oil, her journey with INDAH and her latest charitable endeavor with the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Here’s what she had to say.
Obviously you take fantastic care of yourself, what are your beauty secrets and how have they changed over the years?
Thanks Tiff!
Ever since I started INDAH my skin has changed dramatically, I even look younger! All because I make my products with coconut oil and active ingredients. My diet changed for the better about six years ago, because of my fiancé – he’s a Metabolic Type Advisor and Holistic Practitioner, my body is still detoxing but I have the energy now to last the whole day. Our skin is a true reflection of what’s going on inside your body, so I pay a lot attention to what type of foods I’m eating, that being – real food and organic. I like to live a certain lifestyle – which is green and clean, it has improved my health and internal balance in my digestion, and therefore skin tone and I feel and look younger than ever. Everybody is different, so what food works for one may not work for the other.
When I first met you, Indah was only beginning to develop a name in the industry and you were operating from the stunning location of Bali. What are the most significant changes that have occurred?
For the first time I’ve been able to benefit from e-commerce sales, it has become all about having a presence on the major social media platforms, as there is inter-dependency between sales and reputation. I have gained amazing progression in customer loyalty, because I’ve earned it, I like to have a strong ethic when it comes to customer service, and I believe the customer will always be rewarded. There’s also consistency with the brand’s identity and message now I get to know who my customer is and what they want from an organic beauty brand.
Is there an INDAH product you cannot live without on a day to day basis?
Virgin Coconut Oil, it’s my No.1 beauty secret. I have been using this miracle oil
for years, it has worked wonders for my skin and it keeps my insides healthy too. It’s organic, affordable, smells delish, you can eat it and cook with it. It’s the base of all of my products, I use it so it carries the ingredients into the bloodstream where it can detoxify and help replenish and renew cells. I use it in so many ways, I add it to my tea as a sweetener, oil-pulling, face and body moisturiser, hair mask, lip balm I even use it as furniture polish!
Over the years devoting your time to charity has always been a huge part of what you do with Indah, what were the driving forces behind this? Is this something that is personal to you?
Yes it is personal to me, because I’ve been given this wonderful life and I’ve got to live it to my fullest potential – sounds cliché I know, but it’s the truth. I owe Mother Nature big time, shes given me her resources to work with, so working with charities is the least I can do. I have this philosophy that I’ve lived by for many years now (I have it tattooed on my wrist to remind me) to work harmoniously with humanity and the environment, you receive what you give, karma is very powerful
You have recently become the ambassador for Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia. Tell us a bit about this charity and what it means to you.
Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) is a non-profit environmental organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating Bornean orangutans, a species that shares 98 percent of our human DNA, yet remains under threat of extinction within the next decade if urgent action is not taken. The past year has seen BOS’s innovative release program take a giant leap in the fight to protect our orangutan cousins. In May 2012, the first ever human rehabilitated orangutans were successfully released back into the wild, and now make up two of the 70 successfully released “Orangutan School” graduates living happily in protected Bornean rainforest. A further 100 orangutans are scheduled for release in 2013.
I was so excited to come on board as an ambassador for BOSA, and already have adopted two babies, Miko and Dodo. Orangutans are our closest ancestors, so I try and do as much as I can on a personal and business level to bring awareness to this wonderful cause.

If you could choose to wear any swim suit from the We Are Handsome collection what would it be?
Definitely the IMPERIAL BANDEAU BIKINI, love a good strapless bikini, the print reminds me of sucking on a fragrant blood orange bathing on the Tuscan Riviera.
