No doubt one of my favourite runways of this years Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. From the styling, the hair and make up to the execution of each look on the runway, Bianca Spenders ‘The Universe Next Door’ collection can only be described as perfection and one of her best collections to date.
Staged in a dark broody warehouse, the runway surrounded Gabriel Lesters artistic installation; a corrugated iron house, providing a raw setting for what would become an breath taking show. Combining architectural elements, cut out structures and fluidity, the designs evoked notions strong femininity matched by grace and elegance.
The use of chiffon with light tailoring was strategically designed in conjunction with pastel hues to add a playful nature to the collection. The feature of dark greys and black in the collections more structural garments, provided the dominant characteristics of strength and power in each look.
The styling was exceptional. The intricacies of the jewellery, from tribal like neck pieces, geometric bangles and statement earrings did not detract from the polished hair and make-up. Every look was perfect, each model not stepping a foot out of place.
All I can say is, wow! This is only a sign of what is to come.
