Lately I have been cheating on fashion with interior design. Yes I have become that person who gets excited at the thought of a new throw rug, cushion, vase or kitchen item. Home deco can be very addictive. I try to find daily inspiration from interior designers and architects, such as Robert Mills who designed the gorgeous Sorrento house you see above, so that I can add odd bits and pieces that are me, to my new place.
At the moment I am absolutely loving any bright throw cushions for the couch. Ive been wanting something original, that doesn’t become the focus of the room but simply off sets the other prominent features. I also want something that is elegant but not frigid. I don’t want a cushion that you simply admire from afar rather than experience its comfort curled up with a cup of coffee. You may be thinking “WOW all this thought for a cushion?” I know it may seem ridiculous but I guess I am treating home deco like I treat my personal style; carefully chosen items that are an extension of me. I found the perfect set; the Flock Together Flamingo Cushions from MYND Interiors. I cannot wait purchase them. The subtle pink of the flamingo is offset by a choice of sky blue or pale lemon. They say elegant but wild! Perfect to brighten up my couch.
I am also loving anything hide or leather at the moment. I am currently on the lookout for a new cow hide rug and am constantly trawling instagram for inspiration. The thing is, there is a lot of hide out there not of good quality and will end up deteriorating quite quickly. So quality and style is definitely the key here. I found these gorgeous Young and Battaglia Persian hide rugs, that have intricate vintage patterning detailed them. They are just stunning as you can see below.
My love for leather most definitely extends into interior deign. Key individual pieces can really stand out as a wow piece in your house. Whether you are looking for practicality or aesthetics leather is versatile. The Woven ‘Robert’ leather chairs both single and two seater from Lifestylelab, have most definitely caught my eye. They are unlike anything I have seen before. The white wash timber with bleached and dyed leathers add a rustic elegance that is both comfortable and stylish.
Ah interior design. You really have me addicted to your wicked ways.
Obviously I cannot purchase everything I want right now. One has to build up these items and accumulate things, no? For now I am happy to continue to get daily inspiration for my home.
