With beach-front houses, bath tubs overflowing with beer, old-school cruiser bikes, late night skinny dips, spring breaks in Mexico and hot Californian surfer boys, Del Playa Drive sounds like more of a lifestyle than a street. Meaning ‘the ocean’ in Spanish, Del Playa Drive is a one-mile strip in Santa Barbara and the inspiration behind hot new label Del Playa Drive.

Diamonds are a girls bestfriend
While in Bondi on Sunday we took a visit to the local markets. I spotted this really wicked/ eclectic jewelery line called Betty and Cash. Jessica McMullen is the creative genius behind this industrial meets vintage range. She individually creates and hand makes all her jewelery, which makes for totally unique pieces. What caught my eye initially was the simplicity of the geometric shapes and the contemporary designs. Each piece I tried on was so wearable, I really hadn’t seen such original, cutting edge designs in a while. Any rings, necklaces or bracelets I have seen lately has reminded me of other designs, nothing has been truly innovative! The diamond series was my absolute favourite, especially the rings. I can’t wait to head back to Bondi markets next time I’m in town!

Beauty should be natural, easy – but really, when is it?
Our skin is our largest organ- It lives, it breaths and absorbs everything it comes in contact with. So, I think it is extremely important to nurture it. Over the past few years more and more people have made the switch to organic/ natural beauty products. So much so, I would even say that organic skin care is now the “norm” amongst many women. A lot of people are concerned with their health and try, wherever possible, to avoid exposing themselves to potentially dangerous chemicals. I know I’d rather use natural ingredients rather than irritating, harmful chemicals on my skin.
But what is Organic skincare exactly? Read on…
Byblos
Loving this campaign shot and prints for Byblos‘ Spring Summer 2011 shot by Oskar Cecere
Marc Jacobs Laptop Cases
If laptop cases were seasonal, these Marc by Marc Jacobs varieties would be straight out of his summer collection. Now I’m going to be honest. I don’t usually give a crap about things like laptop cases. When I speak accessory, its fluent shoe, bangle, bag, sunnies or scarf – you catch my drift? But these aren’t exactly your typical department store variety.
Samantha Wills Jewlery
It’s no secret we absolutely adore Samantha Wills‘ jewelry. We’ve used pieces in our last couple of campaign shoots (notice anything in The Aviary Collection images?) and we thought it about time to tell the world our secret, and give some well deserved kudos to Samantha.

For The Boys – 7 Diamonds
It’s well known that we at WAH only make womenswear (for the moment, and except for the dabbling with mens shorts last season), and I often get asked about what I like in menswear, what I wear and what brands I love. I also often get asked “what should I buy for my boyfriend/brother/husband??”
So starting today, for our more manly readers and girls looking for gifts I’ll be showing you just what I love and wear (or wish I could wear!)
One such USA based label is 7 Diamonds. Having just discovered them recently (and, I believe, unable to get them down here in AUS) they are my new favourite casual mens label. As you can tell from their S/S11 lookbook (pictured) the shapes and cuts are simple, sophisticated and very well tailored. The fabrics sit beautifully, they have great checks and the leatherwear is spectacular. Yes this may be embarrassing for me gushing over them like this, but I really am enamoured.
They’re available throughout the USA and all details are on their site.
I’m just hoping there will be a few pieces i can track down when we go on tour this march/april – I WILL track them down.
In the meantime if you know how I can get a hold of some of these wonderful pieces please let me know!
Last question: What menswear labels do you love or buy for the men in your life?! Tell us in the comments and the best label suggested will win our love, adoration, respect and a a prize 🙂
Changi Logs Surfboards
When board shaper Nick Mcarthur paddled his 10-foot experiment out for its maiden voyage, he didn’t know what to expect. Ten hours earlier he’d driven up to Byron Bay on a whim with the heavy board in the back and an impulsive energy he just couldn’t shake. So there he was waiting – just him, the board and a pair of short shorts. And when that perfect wave came, his board rode like a dream and only fuelled his board-shaping obsession.
It was out of this experience that Changi Logs were born. Inspired by the surfing trends of the fifties and sixties, Nick’s longboards are made out of dion foam with a plywood stringer, and then wrapped in imported volan glass from the states. I’m sure Nick wishes he was born in this golden era, but luckily for us he wasn’t and now we’re able to get a taste of what vintage surfing legend Phil Edwards would have taken for granted.
Pawaka!
I first fell in love with Fahrani Empel when I saw her in Aje’s Summer 2009 lookbook. Â I’m a sucker for a girl covered in tattoos and I love how effortless and edgy she is. Â Now this model-slash-Bali-MTV-host has turned fashion designer and Pawaka is her new baby. Â The lookbook is killer – check it out here. Continue reading
