We are incredibly excited to present the next installment of The Handsome Project. Our friend André Silva agreed to return and shoot our Vintage Collection with amazing results. Read on to see the rest of his WAH photoshoot and interview!
How would you describe your style?
I take a lot of inspiration from reality. Everyday stuff, how light behaves, people and their charisma. There’s that famous quote from David LaChapelle; “if you want reality, take the bus. He is amazing at what he does, but I do find the bus, the tube, very interesting, and I do just that.
What fashion label would be your ultimate campaign to shoot?
I find DSQUARED2’s campaigns particularly striking, and would love to be involved in one.
What is your strength as a photographer?
Determination. If you never give up and keep doing what you love, things will eventually go your way.
Who are your influences?
People who work their arses off are very inspiring to me, in whichever field.
What is your favourite photography accessory, other than your camera?
The flash. As beautiful as natural light is, you can’t always use it.
Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?
I wish I had taken more photos of my grandma.
Do you prefer a bikini or a one-piece?
I don’t think I’d look that great in either! But I’d say a bold one-piece, there aren’t that many around.
Who is your photography muse?
Light is my muse.
What would be your advice to someone trying to break into the industry?
– Shoot, shoot, and then shoot some more. Oh and get into video too!
– Hendrick’s, cucumber and tonic. I actually hate cucumber, but it goes perfectly with Hendrick’s.
We would like to send a big virtual hug to Andre for coming back to shoot our Vintage Collection. The shoot captures a side to the suits that we haven’t seen before, and we’re incredibly grateful you came back to demonstrate just how exciting a photographer you really are. The photos are dark, moody and absolutely gorgeous, we love them!
