Children are conduits for unabated creative force and this whimsical installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art is the best example of just that. In a simply inspired move artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a blank canvas home scenario by painting all the walls, chair, table, piano, and household paraphernalia a brilliant white. Then over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest guests were given thousands upon thousands of coloured dot stickers and given the opportunity to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of colour. How awesome is this? I wish I was still a child so I could get stuck in! The installation, entitled The Obliteration Room, is part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition that runs at the gallery through March 12.
