Blissful Byron Bay

Jeremy and I we’re invited to spend a night at The Byron at Byron and upon entering the sanctuary like grounds found ourselves on the verge of a stillness, all of our crazy week just a faded distant memory. With the sound of the ocean splashing off the walls of our tropical rainforest retreat, the abundant birds chirping stories to each other and the smell of fresh cut lilies filling the air – we had found a bayside nirvana.

The Byron at Byron is situated a short bicycle ride out of the main village of Byron Bay and is skirted by the beautiful and long stretches of Tallows beach. Of all the places and spaces in Byron it’s Tallows that has my heart, this dog friendly beach stretches it’s pure white sands tentacles long up the coast and wraps itself along up to the lighthouse at the eastern most point of Australia. With excited and playful barks tempering the air, families bonding over the surf dumping them on the shore and the odd cyclists gliding by on the hard sand – these scenes are best kind of beach to me.

Situated on 48 hectares the resort features 90 bungalows sprawled amongst 3 uniquely different ecosystems. A wetland, comprising of a lake and river inlets filled with pops of bright blue water lilies, a dappled light filled forest of pine trees and a lush tropical rainforest all make for a perfect space in which to stroll hand in hand experiencing the wonder and changing landscapes melting together with your significant other.

The resort has taken the ecosystems and continued the elements through the décor of the rooms and common areas’. Staying in any of the bungalows has you in amidst an ecosystem with secluded views onto the picturesque surrounds.

As one would expect from a spa resort, it is fully equipped with every spa facility imaginable and we can highly recommend indulging in a relaxing treatment and finishing with a dip in the spa bath. Topped with with a superb meal at the restaurant and you’ve just had the perfect Byron day.

It’s no secret that we generally don’t function at WAH HQ without our coffee fix in the mornings. As the saying goes we need coffee to coffee our coffee coffee coffee…um yep that sounds about right. Combine this with a good meal and afternoon thirst quenching mineral water and it’s a pretty good day in the office.

It seems as though at this years Mercedes Benz Fashion Week our guests agreed with us. With all the fashionistas, designers, journalists, bloggers and photographers running around from show to show, a good coffee and mineral water from our friends over at Vittoria was a saving grace for many at our runway. What can I say? We like to spoil our guests!

In teaming up with Vittoria again this year, we designed a series of take away cups covered in our latest prints from the upcoming and popular collections. Not only did our guests get their coffee fix using their printed cups, they got to take home their very own We Are Handsome keep cup. We figured… you like coffee, we like coffee, we both love animal prints, lets combine the two loves and make magic. A kind of WAH keepsake.

Generally with the busy lives we lead, constant hustle and bustle going on, most people are like ‘Hey just stop and smell the roses every once in while’…roses?? I think i’d prefer to stop and smell the coffee. Ain’t nothing like it.

I often consider make-up a good investment. I have my reasons. I am not a morning person at the best of times, scratch that, I am not a morning person at all. So when I have to get up early, its unavoidable that I wake up with dark circles under my eyes and that not quite coherent look on my face.

A good make-up can fix all my worries and have me transformed from half asleep to wide awake in no time. An application of mineral powder, a layer of mascara and a pop of colour on my lips and I am ready to go. Without a doubt I on a daily basis, including those early mornings, Maybelline NY has my back. Trustworthy, old faithful.

SNACK ATTACK

You’ve had our Handsome Pops of Froyo and yes they are delicious, but we are currently obsessing over chocolate coated ice-creams. Not just any ice-creams. Connoisseur dessert ice-creams. HEAVEN!

Whether we are in the Maldives shooting our latest campaign, working hard at WAH HQ or running around backstage at our Fashion Week Show, Connoisseur ice-creams are our favourite snack to keep away the hunger and give us some energy to keep going.

The best part is, it never gets boring. So many flavours…! Personally on any given day I will choose Vanilla (I like the classics) and if I want to spice it up I will head on over to Salted Caramel (TO DIE FOR) but if I wanted something new, there would be no issue. The only problem is stopping myself from splurging and eating all the flavours in one day. With WAH HQ’s freezer full of ice-cream, it tends to be hard not too.

We thought that we should share our obsession this year with our guests at Fashion Week. All of our guests were given the opportunity to try their favourite flavour whilst watching our latest collection hit the runway. A delicious way to enjoy the show. We certainly think so.

As children our favourite and most exciting snack was always ice-cream. The sound of the ice-cream truck in our streets sent us crazy, the excitement we got when Mum or Dad yelled ‘Dessert time’  was unparalleled…..I guess now that we have grown up…nothing has changed.

One of things we are most proud of at We Are Handsome is that all of our designs are created and made right here in Australia. Our collections represent the quintessential notion of who we are as a label; happiness, sunshine, adventure, those who seek to create something special drawing on the integral elements of the environment. To be apart of an industry of such connected talented designers, artists and creatives, continues to drive our passion to produce Australian owned quality, luxury swimwear and apparel.

WESTFIELD DESIGNER LAUNCH

As a label, it is not only important for us to participate in and support Australian design, but to become a voice that helps foster domestic talent and awareness in the Australian retail environment. This is why along with two other designers, we are excited to be sponsored by Westfield at this years Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. As apart of Westfield’s InHabit Program, we will be creating an installation at Sydney and Bondi Junction, as well as a personalised pop up in Melbourne’s Doncaster centre.

This partnership allows us to reach a wider homegrown audience. We believe that Australian consumers now more   than ever want to see Australian designers flourish. They want to buy local. This is truly a special thing and with the help of Westfield, We Are Handsome and many others both now and in the future will benefit thoroughly

Hair Play

Every year I go through this phase. The phase when I get bored with my hair and need to make a decision on what to do with it. So many questions pop to mind. Do I cut it? Do I grow it? Should I change the style? How drastic should the change be? Will I leave it natural or colour it? If so should I go all out and jump on the pastel locks trend? So many questions, all overwhelming! First world problems.

There is is a method to my madness and in my crazy weighing up of decisions, I have decided to dedicate myself to making my hair look as lush and healthy as possible. Perfect runway ready hair so good it looks like I just stepped out of a commercial. Ok not quite, but one can dream.

Many would doubt my dedication but with our awesome friends over at KMS in charge of our runway locks this year at MBFWA, I have confidence that I will achieve my goal. With their expertise and delicious hair products mine and our model babes locks will be perfectly soft, shiny and voluminous. Not to mention they have teamed up with us to design some very cool WAH print hair brushes and capes! Hair prep in style!

TROPICAL TANS

Whilst we love to chase the never ending summer and catching a tan whilst doing so, we know that it can’t be summer for everyone and even if it is, you must make sure that you aren’t exposing your skin to potential sun damage. That’s why we always look for that extra glow with a little bit of fake tan.

There is no shame in rocking the faux tan, in fact we  LOVE that we can achieve the same sun-kissed, beach babe look from a cream or liquid, without having to lather on the sunscreen or endure the pain of sunburn and recovery time. NOT to mention, creating crazy tan lines because you accidentally missed spot on your back or ended up with a handprint from the old slap stick application approach. No thank you! This whole fake tan thing sounds about right to us.

Which is why every year we make sure our model babes at the We Are Handsome MBFWA runway, and not to mention our campaign “workation” to the Maldives, are rocking the best tropical tans with the help from our awesome friends over at St Tropez. And why wouldn’t we? They are the go to experts on the subject of tanning, whether we are applying backstage or inn our bathroom, their expertise is not glossed over. Just the other day they taught us how to apply fake tan to our face without making mistakes or causing breakouts!

Golden, deep bronzed, beach babin’ bodies? Check! No risk of skin cancer?  Check! Well we are all set to go with what will be a sun kissed runway.

It’s come to my attention that I have a slight addiction. An addiction that although I would like to say is exercise, has my bank account being exercised more than I. Yes online shopping. You’ve got me. I’m addicted. I admit it. Couple this with my constant use of digital and social media platforms and you would find me gone for hours just happy browsing and making mental lists of everything I need…..want, I mean want. 

Then something happened. Something exciting. Two of my favourite things; social media and online shopping, combined forced to create one AMAZE TOWN app! Bluesky. This is a digital platform that combines window shopping and actual shopping all in one. They must have designed it specifically for me. I just know it.

Since the seasons are changing, like any girl, my hair styles will need to change and adapt to suit this. So I have decided to seek hair inspiration. I have had every hair style under the sun, really short and choppy, long and luscious, medium and blunt, ombre, dye dip, blonde, brown, blonde again, boho style, concave…you name it I have had it. You may say that I am a little obsessed with hair styles. My attitude towards my hair is exactly the same towards my clothes; be individual, be who you want to be.

Delivery in United States

• Delivery is via FedEx Smart Post (with tracking) and generally takes 2-7 business days – it costs $5 USD.
•Express Delivery is via UPS Ground and takes 3 days – it costs $14 USD.
•Lost or stolen postage is not covered by insurance.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY GARMENT?

Although our garments may make you feel invincible, the swimsuit itself is rather delicate.

Make sure you follow these easy steps to make sure your piece of We Are Handsome stays with you forever!

  • Use a mild detergent while hand washing it separately in cold water.
  • Pretty please don’t tumble dry, wring, soak or bleach your garment (that’s just cruel), it’s best to let it dry in the shade.
  • Try not to leave it rolled up and wet, make sure you rinse it really well after each use, especially if you’re spending a lot of time frolicking in an infinity pool – or a non-infinity pool for that matter!
  • Please don’t iron or dry-clean it.
  • Also, try to stay away from rough surfaces as it could cause pilling, and we all know that is not a good look.
