How We Do

The carnival suit is inspired by our childhood memoires of our family road trips and the beach-side carnivals our parents would take us to all along Australia’s east coast. At christmas holiday time, almost every little town had one of these carnivals – it wasn’t a huge thing, but there was always a ferris wheel and dodgem cars and the like. For an Aussie kid, summer holidays weren’t holidays without a trip to one of these mini happiness factories…

The Protector – Design

The Protector is our 3rd print from The MemoirsCollection (in-store NOW) and most definitely one of our favourites!

The Protector – Moodboard

The Protector is one of those images that sticks with you. An image you already feel familiar with and comfortable with. We used scale and colour to make the wolf feel warm and like she could be a protector, rather than a hunter. Wolves don’t have a wonderful reputation and are generally considered to be primal scavengers, They actually have maternal skills that far outweigh those of most other animals, and hence what inspired our print and her name.

The Protector- Bodysuit

We really love the reaction you’ve all had to The Protector suits and really hope you feel the same about her as we do.

We thought that in the lead up to in-store this season we’d share a little of our process and inspiration on our prints and method of working. Thus, each week we’ll be introducing you to the Memoirs prints and what inspired them.

The Bather – Moodboard

The Bather doesn’t really need a whole lot of explanation. If it’s not obvious already that we’re obsessed with the beach & summer you haven’t been paying attention. When concepting our beach print for The Memoirs we really wanted to create something that made you feel like you had your own sandy space. A space where you can lie uninterrupted in the sun for as many hours as you please.

The Bather – Frilled One Piece

After all, that’s why we all love exotic island getaways, right? We absolutely adore this print – don’t tell the others but it’s one of our favorites.

The Dreamer – Moodboard

The Dreamer is inspired by a hot air balloon flight we took last year. The experience of floating silently and at the will of the wind was magical. We’ve all flown in planes before, but there’s something completely different about being outside in the cold air, looking down over the land, the city that just mystifies you.

The Dreamer – Zip Suit

If you ever get a chance to take a hot air balloon ride – don’t hesitate.
