Behind The Scenes

You know how bad your hair feels after you’ve had it done for an event? Well times that by a hundred and you’ll get some idea of the condition of a model’s hair during fashion week. With back-to-back shows, they’re having their hair washed, dried and styled over and over again. That’s why we were thrilled to have TRESemme on board for our show. Between TRESemme and our hair style director Keiren Street, our girls hair not only looked stunning, it felt amazing too (if you were lucky enough to get that close!)

The style we chose for our models relied heavily on their locks being in top condition. Thanks to an incredible array of TRESemme products on hand, we were able to create a soft and romantic style to compliment the collection.  Models strutted down the runway with hair slicked into a side part using red bobby pins, with long cascading beach waves down one shoulder.

A big thanks to the hair care gurus over at TRESemme for keeping our models locks looking luscious.

One of the best things about putting a show on is being able to collaborate with a whole bunch of amazing designers and creative visionaries. So over the next week, we’ll be revealing the talented people who helped make our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) debut possible.

With a colourful collection that included animalistic, landscape and floral inspired prints, we needed jewellery that could hold its own.  So to compliment our pieces, we turned to jewellery designers MEZI. The Sydney-based label is designed by sister duo Tal Manning and Adva Punin who draw on their exotic Moroccan-Egyptian heritage to create eye-catching adornment. Using a pop of yellow and stacked shapes, the girls custom-designed a pair of tropical drop-style earrings that we couldn’t wait to see paired with our suits.

The earrings created the perfect finish to the styling of our models and we can’t thank MEZI enough for being a part of the show.

Like we do each season, we love to introduce you to the prints and give you a little insight into why and how we came to the image that gets finally put into the range.

The fourth print in our Romantic Collection is the Canine. We briefed ourselves on this one to find the cutest puppy on earth. One that when you looked at her you couldn’t help but have that ‘AAAWWWWWW’escape your lips.

After much searching for just the right pooch, we stumbled across little Madeline and knew she was just perfect!

The 3rd print in our Romantic Collection is The Fighter. We all know that lovers are fighters. Love makes us fierce, and any love worth having is a love worth fighting for.

This print – very obviously – is for all the fighters out there.

The 2nd print in our Romantic Collection is the Lover. What better to put into the range than the flower of love – the rose? I guess there’s really not a lot more to say about this one, but we LOVE how it’s come out and received a fantastic response form you. Thank you!

We are in love with this print, and really hope you are too.

The first print in our Romantic Collection is the Majestic. I’m sure we don’t need to explain why we created this image, after all, Paris is the city of love, but we really wanted to make the image lovely and romantic as well, so the colouring and positioning was really important.

There are details we love like the little flock of birds and the slight hint of universe at the top of the sky.
We are in love with this print, and really hope you are too.

Over christmas, we – as so many Aussies do – wen’t on our annual summer road trip.

Always an experience, with lots of junk food, stops in tiny towns, unknown beaches and pretty parks we had one of our best ever, especially taking our puppy – Bear – with us.

As usual we took lots of photos in places from Byron Bay to Woolgoolga, Kundabung to Barcoongere (I put these in for comedic effect – if you’re not an Aussie, let it be known we have some of the weirdest place names ever!)

Every girl needs a few things in her possession. A little black dress, a pair of killer heels, a gorgeous swimsuit and a piece (or ten) of jewellery from Aussie designer ELKE.

A great friend of ours, we’ve loved her quirky-cool style for a while now because it’s just the right blend of ladylike glamour and effortless cool.

Our Vintage shoot includes more than a few ELKE pieces that we absolutely adore and have a sneaky suspicion that you will too.

We are especially loving her Forminiferna Earrings in Larvae from the first photo. They are insanely easy to wear with anything in your closet. Lets be honest, who doesn’t need beautiful drop earrings going into summer!?

Head over to her facebook and website for some more gorgeous jewwellery that you’ll absolutely fall in love with. [click to continue…]

We thought that in the lead up to in-store this season we’d share a little of our process and inspiration on our prints and method of working. Thus, each week we’ll be introducing you to the Memoirs prints and what inspired them.

The Bather – Moodboard

The Bather doesn’t really need a whole lot of explanation. If it’s not obvious already that we’re obsessed with the beach & summer you haven’t been paying attention. When concepting our beach print for The Memoirs we really wanted to create something that made you feel like you had your own sandy space. A space where you can lie uninterrupted in the sun for as many hours as you please.

The Bather – Frilled One Piece

After all, that’s why we all love exotic island getaways, right? We absolutely adore this print – don’t tell the others but it’s one of our favorites.
