You know how bad your hair feels after you’ve had it done for an event? Well times that by a hundred and you’ll get some idea of the condition of a model’s hair during fashion week. With back-to-back shows, they’re having their hair washed, dried and styled over and over again. That’s why we were thrilled to have TRESemme on board for our show. Between TRESemme and our hair style director Keiren Street, our girls hair not only looked stunning, it felt amazing too (if you were lucky enough to get that close!)

The style we chose for our models relied heavily on their locks being in top condition. Thanks to an incredible array of TRESemme products on hand, we were able to create a soft and romantic style to compliment the collection.  Models strutted down the runway with hair slicked into a side part using red bobby pins, with long cascading beach waves down one shoulder.

A big thanks to the hair care gurus over at TRESemme for keeping our models locks looking luscious.

One of the best things about putting a show on is being able to collaborate with a whole bunch of amazing designers and creative visionaries. So over the next week, we’ll be revealing the talented people who helped make our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) debut possible.

With a colourful collection that included animalistic, landscape and floral inspired prints, we needed jewellery that could hold its own.  So to compliment our pieces, we turned to jewellery designers MEZI. The Sydney-based label is designed by sister duo Tal Manning and Adva Punin who draw on their exotic Moroccan-Egyptian heritage to create eye-catching adornment. Using a pop of yellow and stacked shapes, the girls custom-designed a pair of tropical drop-style earrings that we couldn’t wait to see paired with our suits.

The earrings created the perfect finish to the styling of our models and we can’t thank MEZI enough for being a part of the show.

Located in Búzios, the Saint Tropez of South America and my all time favourite holiday destination, is one of the most perfect beachside bars in the world. Perched high on a cliff overlooking a horseshoe bay and the heavy surf of Praia Brava is Rocka Beach Lounge.

Run by the Santiago Bebbiano, the Justin Hemmes of Brazil and one of the country’s most eligible bachelors, Rocka Beach Lounge is as close to perfection as a bar and restaurant can get. Growing up in the family’s luxurious boutique hotel Casas Brancas has clearly paid off for Bebbiano. Large leather sun lounges with umbrellas shade guests as they sip on Cham Cham cocktails (Chambord and Champagne) and dine on a sophisticated menu of fresh seafood prepared by top Argentinean chef Gustavo Rinkevich. But don’t let the exceptional service and beautiful people fool you, this place is far from pretentious. Rock up barefoot in a bikini or boardies and chill out to super cool Brazillian bossa nova while you work on your tan. Stay until the sun goes down and you might be lucky enough to experience an impromptu dance party under the moonlight to the sound of the waves.

Learning to surf is hard. There’s reading the waves, respecting the line-up and not freaking out when a big set rolls in. But the biggest challenge of all, is finding gear that’s not just functional but fashionable too. Call me superficial, but I don’t want to hit the beach wearing some generic ensemble that clashes with my board. So you can imagine my delight when I came across a super cool range of women’s wetsuits by Byron Bay-based label Tallow.

Named after one of the local beaches, Tallow is created by Ali Mandalis and Shannon Clynes who along with swimwear, apparel and accessories, make some of the most stylish wetsuits around. Worn by Elle Macpherson and Lara Bingle, these babies are slick, sexy and a little bit edgy. Sounds like its time to suit up ladies.

Bali is an island for everyone. Families spend their hard earned savings at a relaxing resort around Nusa Dua or Seminyak, hard-partying twenty somethings descend on the beaches, hotels and nightclubs of South Kuta, while the dedicated surfers migrate to the southern peninsula of Uluwatu.

Each year, this renowned area attracts thousands of advanced surfers from every corner of the globe, pursuing their lifelong quest for the perfect wave. The atmosphere is electric and people are happily helpful.

The paddle-out at Uluwatu point is confronting enough to scare the pants of even the bravest of souls. Surfers climb down a few hundred stairs that lead to a hollow, wide cave. On high tide you literally begin your paddle through this dark cave without seeing the exit. When you do get into the line-up, there are three main breaks to chose from; The Peak, Racetracks and Temples. Between the three, there is a huge variety of waves to choose from. Just watch the paddle back in at high tide; it’s tough to spot the cave entrance and before you know it you can float half way to Kuta.

When the sun finally makes its return to Sydney, we know what we’ll be wearing. Aussie eyewear brand Sunday Somewhere may have only just launched, but we’ve already got them on our Christmas list. Started by Dave Allison (COLAB eyewear) and Carlos Aviles (AM eyewear), the range features sunglasses and optical frames that focus on detail, quality, simplicity and originality.

What we like best about Sunday Somewhere is that they’re not influenced by trends. Their aesthetic draws on both the past and future to create a unique collection of eyewear that ranges from vintage to modern. And within these styles are some of the best round sunnies around. So check out their debut collection and get ready for one hell of a summer.

Take a vintage ice-cream van, load it with hot sunglasses, vanilla soft serve, a ridiculously good looking crew and a sprinkling of nuts, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a road trip. OPSM have kick-started summer with their Sunshine Tour and we’re excited to have been invited along for the ride.

The first stop on the tour was Cronulla Beach and we headed down to help style the locals and check out the summer collection. Now if there’s one thing we love more than ice cream, it’s sunglasses. So we skipped the queue (and unfortunately the cute guy serving it) to get fitted in some of the hottest sunnies around by brands like Burberry, Ray-Ban, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Prada and Tiffany.  We usually go for a classic aviator or wayfarer style, but there were quite a few glamorous frames that had us ready to work it for the super cool photographers that were on hand to capture the locals in their new shades.

We’re not usually into labels that tell us that they’re designed to be worn “at the most exclusive beaches and hotspots of the summer but Myo are based in Como, Italy – so we’ll excuse them. Started earlier this year by brothers David and William Fattal, Myo is a new luxury brand of men’s resort wear that wouldn’t look out of place on Jude Law’s character in The Talented Mr Ripley.

These shorts are made for guys who don’t just wear boat shoes because they’re cool and hipster. They’re made for guys who wear boat shoes because at any given time they might be on a boat and goddamn it those decks can be slippery.
